The key and what it may do
How the tool talks to App Store Connect, with the app's own API key, and what it never does.
The tool talks to App Store Connect with the app's own API key, found the way fastlane and Apple's tools find it:
APP_STORE_CONNECT_API_KEY_PATH, a fastlane JSON key file;fastlane/asc_api_key.json;AuthKey_<KEY_ID>.p8infastlane/or~/.appstoreconnect/private_keys, with the key id and issuer id fromASC_KEY_IDandASC_ISSUER_ID, or named in the Fastfile.
The key is read in memory only to sign a token, and is never written, logged or sent anywhere but to Apple. Settings shows whether a key is found.
Status
Refresh App Store Connect in Pages, or on the command line:
store-shots asc statuslists the versions and their states, the custom product pages and the tests, matched to the pages in the manifest.
What it does, and never does
Every upload shows its plan first and changes nothing until you confirm (--yes on the
command line).
- It uploads drafts: custom product pages, test treatments, the default page's media on a version that takes edits, and Asset Library images.
- It submits only Asset Library images, and only when you ask.
- It never creates a version, changes a version's text (that is fastlane's job), submits a version, a custom page or a test, or runs a lane that builds or submits. Those stay a click in App Store Connect.
